Book Review#2: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This book was pretty slow for me honestly. I had started it at least 5 different times, and every time I had to put it aside and start a different book because this book could not just interest me.
Finally, thanks to my group on Goodreads, I was once again able to pick up this book and I was determined to read it. It took a while, but after finally reading past page 100, the pace started to pick up and I was hooked.
I started to love how Juliette's character was developing from helpless freak to a confident and powerful young woman who would stop at nothing to protect those who were her friends. I loved how she started to depend herself and found that what made her a horrendous freak, also made her a hero in her own right. She blossomed beautifully as an individual and I was happy to be there as she did.
What I have to admit was my guilty pleasure in all of this, was Juliette's romance with Adam. It was sexy and seductive and yet it never once was over the top. Adam desired her, regardless of who she was and what she did that caused others to be afraid of her. His trust in her never faltered and neither did his love. What I really respected about Adam was that he never saw Juliette as something to be afraid of. He loved her instantly and made room for her in the lives of his brother and himself. And I found that to be romantic.
I give this book a good 4 out of 5 stars, docking off one star for the slow start. With such a good ending, I'm excited to purchase the other books to this series and continue on my adventure with Juliette and Adam. <3
