Book Review#3: The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau
So I sped through this book. But not because I liked it. Ok, let me rephrase that. I did like this book, but that is not the rest I sped through it.
This book had a very interesting concept, it was full of suspense and thrill and horror. The characters were pretty good. But what really got to me, and I could not shake it off, was that this book seemed a lot like Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Culling by Steven Dos Santos. Not that it's bad to be compared by those books, because they're both great books. To me, the book just felt predictable and a bit of a deja vu moment. Which made me kind of what to skim through a few parts because I felt as though I had read them before.
But, I am still anxious to see how this series progresses and if that feeling for me changes. As far as Dystopia books go, this book was still a very good read and a very good plot. I loved the idea of these individuals going through an insane college application. (Can you imagine? Instead of an application letter to Yale, you had to go through a series of possibly deadly test to see if you qualify? -shivers-
Over all, I give this book a solid 4. Docking off a star for the deja vu moments and the predictably. But I will also be continuing with this series and seeing where it leads to. <3
Book Review#2: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This book was pretty slow for me honestly. I had started it at least 5 different times, and every time I had to put it aside and start a different book because this book could not just interest me.
Finally, thanks to my group on Goodreads, I was once again able to pick up this book and I was determined to read it. It took a while, but after finally reading past page 100, the pace started to pick up and I was hooked.
I started to love how Juliette's character was developing from helpless freak to a confident and powerful young woman who would stop at nothing to protect those who were her friends. I loved how she started to depend herself and found that what made her a horrendous freak, also made her a hero in her own right. She blossomed beautifully as an individual and I was happy to be there as she did.
What I have to admit was my guilty pleasure in all of this, was Juliette's romance with Adam. It was sexy and seductive and yet it never once was over the top. Adam desired her, regardless of who she was and what she did that caused others to be afraid of her. His trust in her never faltered and neither did his love. What I really respected about Adam was that he never saw Juliette as something to be afraid of. He loved her instantly and made room for her in the lives of his brother and himself. And I found that to be romantic.
I give this book a good 4 out of 5 stars, docking off one star for the slow start. With such a good ending, I'm excited to purchase the other books to this series and continue on my adventure with Juliette and Adam. <3

Book Review#1: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (plus some info from January)
First! Some info about January. So I mentioned before that I have given myself a person reading goal of 100 books to read this year. I so far am at 15 books and Goodreads tells me that I am 3 books ahead of schedule. So I'm feeling good about this so far. Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson's Greek Gods by Rick Riordan
Can You See What I See: The Night Before Christmas by Walter Wick
Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
I Spy: A Book of Riddles by Jean Marzollo
The Steadfast Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen
The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen
The Shadow Throne by Jennifer A. Nielsen
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I Spy: Extreme Challenger by Jean Marzollo
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
And recently... Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
Now for the review.
I was always curious about Fangirl. I had never really decided to buy it. But during a secret santa event that my good friend had going on her Goodreads group, I suddenly had a beautiful copy in my hands. I'm not a big fan of contemporary novels. And though I loved the copy I received, I was not convinced that I would like this book very much. I didn't even pick up the book until February when it became one of our books of the month. Once I started to read it. I wasn't impressed very much. I thought the book was boring and the characters were horrible. The only character I sort of liked was Cath. I thought she was someone I could relate to. Someone familiar. Someone just like me. And her character taunted me to continue reading. And so I did. And before I even realized it, I began falling in love with the book. Obsessively in love with it. I got to know the characters and realized why they acted like they did. They became my friends. And I happily revisited them everytime I opened the book. I fell in love with the story of Simon Snow and because obsessed with them like Cath. I grew to love Levi as Cath did. It was beautiful and natural and pleasant. <3 I couldn't be more disappointed when it finally ended! I wanted more from that world! I am so impressed by this book that I have been recommending it to everyone who hasn't read it! It's worth picking up!!! <3
Introductions and WhatNot
Hello, my name is Leela!
A few things before I get to the points of all this. I had made 2 blogs before and could not for the life of me keep up with them. Mostly because there was so much chaos in my life and no organization. But I have my spirits high and now that my life is back in order, I am hoping to keep this blog alive! <3
What to Look Forward to:
1.) Book Blogs - I have started a personal goal of reading 100 books for the year 2016! And I will be talking about every single one of them! <3 I will also be including Book Hauls and my TBR for the month!
2.) Movies - I don't watch very many of them. BUT, anything with a marvel logo, book adaptation and anything that just looks up my alley will be reviewed here! And it won't be just new movies. I do a few oldies and classics! <3
3.) Games - I'm getting back into gaming. Which means my spazzy level is going up the roof. I'll be talking about them here and reviewing them or just letting you know how stuck I am. ;)
4.) My general life. This might get a little boring but this is more for me than anything else. I suffer from what I discovered is pretty bad OCD, anxiety, high stress levels, insomnia. It makes it easier sometimes to write about the hard points in my life. Bear with me on this.
Anyways! I'm hoping for a fun time talking to everyone and such! I'm going to keep myself motivated and happy!!! <3 So onward!!!!
